Paul Gallichan

After several years in the building supplies trade, and wanting a change of direction, my introduction to the freight & logistics industry came in 1995 being employed as the Warehouse Manager for a start up freight wholesaler handling high volume import and export airfreight.

In 2003, after working my way through several other Multi National freight forwarders in varying roles, the position of Warehouse Manager became available at Malcolm Total Logistics. Having dealt with Don Malcolm and the staff at Malcolm Total Logistics through the years, and recognising the company as one with a very strong culture of professionalism, and with a great team, I was fortunate to gain the position of Warehouse Manager.

The people here are what make this place......I recall in the early days several instances of the entire office staff (receptionist, accountants, Don included) being dragged out into the warehouse (high heels or not – No, not you Don!!) to tape boxes closed, put labels on, or whatever else was required to meet a deadline, with failure not being on our list of options!!

The company encourages and invests in the adoption of new technology & systems as they come along, and constantly strives to “kick the tyres and find a better way” in all processes. Wisely, Don also places great emphasis on employing bright young cadets to drag us old hands (kicking & screaming if necessary) to make best use of these new gadgets, and is greatly rewarding for all of us to watch these youngsters come up through the ranks and stamp their own mark on the place!

This strong sense of teamwork, recognition for your efforts, and the great people I work with continues to keep me here, and enjoying the ride...... Entrusted with the position of Operations Manager – Logistics, with overall responsibility for our storage and distribution facility, and transport operations, I look forward to watching Malcolm Total Logistics continue to progress, and punch well above our weight.

After work my passion is fishing. Regrettably the 30’ launch has not eventuated yet, but I am working on it!!!....I am however well on the way to having enough rods / tackle / and other fishing related bits and pieces in the garage / house / bedroom to start my own tackle shop. Fortunately my wife Gloria has an appetite for collecting clothes/ shoes / and all that other useless stuff, so I am free to continue with the growth of my tackle collection unabated.
